چکیده

The shoot2.0 package implements an indirect shooting method for optimal control problems. It is speci cally designed to handle control discontinuities, with an automatic switching detection that requires no assumptions concerning the number of switchings. Special care is also devoted to the computation of the Jacobian matrix of the shooting function, using the variational system instead of classical nite di erences. The package also features an embedded continuation method and an automatic (parallel) grid shooting in order to reduce the dependency to the initialization. Key-words: optimal control, shooting method, Pontryagin's Principle, control switchings ∗ INRIA Saclay and CMAP, Ecole Polytechnique, [email protected] † Université de Toulouse, [email protected] in ria -0 05 17 51 5, v er si on 2 15 S ep 2 01 0 SHOOT2.0: An indirect grid shooting package for optimal control problems, with switching handling and embedded continuation Résumé : The shoot2.0 package implements an indirect shooting method for optimal control problems. Indirect Multiple Shooting for Nonlinear Parabolic Optimal Control Problems with Control Constraints

We discuss the indirect multiple shooting approach for the solution of PDE-based parabolic optimal control problems with control constraints. The method is formulated within an abstract function space setting and uses a space-time Galerkin finite element discretization. The emphasis is on the embedding of indirect multiple shooting into the optimal control framework as well as the detailed desc...

Geometric optimal control and applications to aerospace

This article deals with applications of optimal control to aerospace problems with a focus on modern geometric optimal control tools and numerical continuation techniques. Geometric optimal control is a theory combining optimal control with various concepts of differential geometry. The ultimate objective is to derive optimal synthesis results for general classes of control systems. Continuatio...

Solving Optimal Control and Pursuit-evasion Game Problems of High Complexity

Optimal control problems which describe realistic technical applications exhibit various features of complexity. First, the consideration of inequality constraints leads to optimal solutions with highly complex switching structures including bang-bang, singular, and control-and state-constrained sub-arcs. In addition, also isolated boundary points may occur. Techniques are surveyed for the comp...

Time-optimal control of automobile test drives with gear shifts

We present a numerical method and results for a recently published benchmark problem (Optim. Contr. Appl. Met. 2005; 26:1–18; Optim. Contr. Appl. Met. 2006; 27(3):169–182) in mixed-integer optimal control. The problem has its origin in automobile test-driving and involves discrete controls for the choice of gears. Our approach is based on a convexification and relaxation of the integer controls...

A Survey of Certain Methods for the Guidance of Space Vehicles

The practical applicability of optimal solutions of control problems substantially depends upon the availability of feedback control schemes to compensate for unavoidable disturbances. Three numerical methods of treating these schemes are presented and discussed in this paper. They can be applied to a rather general class of optimal control problems (for example, problems with inequality constr...
